Gallery Voltaire accepts proposals at any time. We welcome applications for solo, group, and curated shows, as well as one-night events and workshops. We are open to new and emerging artists of all disciplines!

The split level gallery space can be divided into three distinct areas, or used in its entirety. The gallery connects to upstairs CLUB VOLTAIRE, an intimate bar and performance space showcasing circus, dance, music, cabaret, live art, music and much more. Both upstairs and downstairs have full alcohol licences.


We are committed to aiding artists in their experimentation and growth, as well as bringing exciting work to the public. The gallery strives to create a sense of community amongst both exhibitors and viewers; a place where the arts are accessible and dynamic.



To have your proposal considered: Email with the subject line: “Exhibition Proposal.”Your email you should include the following information:

1.Which space(s) you are interested in (refer to floor plan below).

2.Which dates you are interested in.

3.A breif description of the proposed exhibition/project/event, what would be exhibited in the space and how will it be displayed.

4.A one-page artists’ CV. (Optional)

5.Five to ten images (JPEG) / sound file (MP3) / video (MP4)


Exhibition period and fees:

Entire gallery $800/wk.

Ground Space $ 350/wk.

Cube $300/wk.

Long Space $300/wk.


Gallery Voltaire is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 11am-6pm. Additional hours are negotiable, and all exhibitions must be invigilated by the artist/persons nominated by the artist for the entire duration of the exhibition.

Prices include email invite to Gallery Voltaire subscribers, printed posters, promotion of the exhibition on our website, Facebook page, and several online publications, and an opportunity to take part in an artist talk.

Gallery Voltaire supports dynamic and innovative art practice and performance and as such, encourages artists to consider having one or more performances on opening nights, whether it is live music, performance art or cabaret. We have a number of regular performers and are happy to organise performers for your exhibition opening for a fee that varies depending on the artist.

Gallery Voltaire takes a 30% commission on all works sold at exhibitions. Please be aware that Gallery Voltaire sells alcohol on opening nights, however, artists are free to place a tab on the bar or to provide their own alcohol by payment of a corkage of $250. Occasionally, Gallery Voltaire hosts classes which take place within the space. If this is a concern for your installation, please let us know on enquiry; we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
